Custom Software
When off-the-shelf tools don't fit, we build software that does. From enterprise systems to SaaS products, we design and engineer scalable solutions tailored to your exact processes.
When bespoke is the right answer
Custom software earns its cost in one situation: your process is a real advantage and no product supports it without being bent out of shape. If a standard package covers ninety per cent of what you do, the honest recommendation is usually to buy it and integrate the remaining ten. We say so before a proposal, not after one. Where custom does win is a workflow no vendor has modelled, a rule your industry treats as unusual, or a system several departments depend on that has quietly become the business itself. Those are the projects worth building, and they are the ones a configured product tends to fail at slowly rather than obviously.
Built around the process, not the demo
The requirement that matters is rarely the one written in the brief. It is the exception someone handles manually every Thursday, the approval that skips a step when the manager is travelling, the report that gets rebuilt in a spreadsheet because nobody trusts the one in the system. We map those before design, because they are what decides whether people use the software or work around it. From there the work is ordinary engineering done carefully: a data model that reflects how your business actually thinks about its records, clear boundaries between modules, and a build sequence that puts something usable in front of real users early rather than at the end.
What you own when it is finished
You own the source code, the database schema, the deployment configuration and the documentation that explains why the system is shaped the way it is. That last item is the one most often missing, and it is the one that decides whether another team can take the system over. We write it as the project runs rather than assembling it at handover, and we treat the ability to leave as a feature of the arrangement rather than a threat to it. A partner who is difficult to replace is not the same thing as a partner worth keeping.

Common questions
- How long does a custom system take to build?
- It depends on scope, but the useful answer is that the first working version should be in real users' hands in weeks, not at the end of the project. Anything quoted as a single delivery many months away is a schedule with no feedback in it, and those are the ones that go wrong quietly.
- Do we own the source code?
- Yes, and it should be written into the contract rather than assumed. Ownership of the code, the data and the environment it runs in belongs to you. If any supplier is vague on this point, treat the vagueness itself as the answer.
- Can it work with the systems we already have?
- Usually, and the first question is which system owns which fact. Integration problems are almost never technical; they are disagreements about where the truth lives, discovered late. Deciding that up front is most of the work.

Buying an ERP should be your default. Here are the four conditions that genuinely justify building one instead, why heavy customisation is the worst of both options, and the hybrid most mid-sized businesses actually need.
